New Chief Scout leads to flurry of interest in Scouting

Bear Grylls appointed new Chief Scout

TV Adventurer Bear Grylls was named the UK’s new Chief Scout on Monday.

Bear Grylls has been named as the New Chief Scout.  This is an exciting time for scouting and if you go onto the Scout website there is a video clip that will interest everyone, young and old use the link http://www.scouts.org.uk/ or click on the newsfeed at the bottom right hand column of this page.   Darren met and chatted to Bear Grylls in March at the Outdoor Show before we knew about his appointment as Chief Scout. and was impressed, so this heralds good things for us as a movement.

DISTRICT CAMP 2009

Well we survived another district camp. The weather was torrential at times and sunny at others.

The scouts arrived on Friday night and pitched their own tents. Teresa had bought an extra 20 tent pegs which vanished in short order as they were used to anchor anything that was flapping. We had some great help from Den Crawford and the Explorers to pitch the mess tents.

There was a night hike on Friday night that started at 21:30! It was across farmers fields in pitch black and poor visibility. (click on 'Read More' below to get the full story and more pictures)
